What are the signs that my tachometer cable is failing?

A tachometer needle that fluctuates wildly is an indication of a broken cable or one in need of lubrication.


In some instances, the square cable ends may have worn excessively, preventing proper engagement with the internals gears, or the cable itself has fouled or become kinked.
