When ordering parts, it is essential that your car is identified exactly, by model year and serial number. Since many part changes were made during model years, the commission number, engine number, and body number provide the only positive identification. Quite often a car's registration will not show the correct model year.
The commission number or V.I.N. is the one which should live with your car forever. Engines, gearboxes etc., can be exchanged and thus different serial numbers will appear on those major units
It is always useful to know the serial number of the units in your car, as it may give our sales advisors a clue as to whether your car has been altered from the original specification. When ordering gearbox or engine components, it is important to provide us with the serial number of the unit concerned.
